Ali S. Fowler is a partner in Barton’s Nashville office. She concentrates her practice in two main areas: Labor and Employment and Intellectual Property.

In her Labor and Employment practice, she represents employers of all sizes in a broad array of employment and human resource issues. This includes workforce and management training, employment agreements, separation and termination negotiations, protecting and enforcing trade secrets, EEOC investigations, and non-solicitation and non-competition agreements. Within this practice, Ali is often called upon to conduct and advise on internal investigations.

In her Intellectual Property practice, Ali concentrates on domestic trademark clearance and prosecution as well as trademark and trade secret litigation.

Immediately prior to joining Barton, Ali served as General Counsel for the registered investment advisory firm Revolution Partners, LLC, a firm which she helped to establish and for whom she continues to act as outside counsel. Ali’s perspective and experience as in-house counsel is appreciated by her clients who find her relatable as someone who is attuned to their business needs and objectives. In addition to financial services, Ali also routinely works with clients in the fields of entertainment, healthcare, media and publishing, and technology.

Ali is a strong believer in giving back to her community. Upon graduating from UT Knoxville summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Ali served as the Official Spokesperson for the Governor’s Alliance for a Safe and Drug Free Tennessee as Miss Tennessee. In this role, she represented the state at the Miss America Scholarship Pageant in Atlantic City, winning the Nonfinalist Interview Award, and later traveled as an ambassador to Japan to promote Japanese tourism to the states along the Mississippi River. The significant scholarships Ali earned at both the state and national levels were used to fund her legal education.

At Vanderbilt University School of Law, Ali served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board and Vice President of the Honor Council. She was selected to introduce Ms. Pauline LaFon Gore as she was named the 1999 Distinguished Alumnus of the school, the first woman to receive the award. Upon graduation, Ali practiced law at Bass, Berry & Sims in the Litigation department in both their Nashville and Memphis offices. Ali then practiced at the Labor and Employment boutique, Webb Sanders in Nashville also serving as the firm’s lead knowledge management attorney.

When she is not practicing law, Ali enjoys volunteering at her kids’ schools and in her community. She has served on the Executive Leadership Team for the Mid-South Heart Ball to Benefit the American Heart Association, is a member and past officer of the One Club at Regional One Medical Center, and is a National Advisory Council Member to nonprofit OneGreenThing. Ali has held yearly positions at her kids’ schools including most recently President of the Parents’ Association for St. Mary’s Episcopal School and for the past four years has been a weekly volunteer at the at Memphis University School’s bookstore.
