Barton supports and promotes the causes and organizations that do good work, complementing our culture of good people. From a 5K run to benefit Susan G. Komen to a donation of non-perishable foods to City Harvest, Barton shows up, supports and encourages participation firm-wide.
Whether it is a collective or individual effort, Barton takes an active role beyond just financial support. Barton supports a number of charities that are meaningful to members of our team. Everyone at the firm has the opportunity to apply for cash, in-kind or matching contributions to the charity of his/her choice.
“I’m just one person, what can I do?” As it turns out, a lot when given the opportunity to join forces. Doing our part…join us.
Here are some ways Barton gets its philanthropy on…
Barton is proud to take an active role in BUILD NYC, the leading organization dedicated to proving the power of experiential learning through entrepreneurship and igniting the potential of youth in under-resourced communities. In addition to sitting on the board, Barton is committed to its mentorship program and encourages its attorneys to actively participate in this program. (Photo credit: Scott Levy/MSG Photos.)
Barton is a long-standing supporter of Sanctuary for Families, New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. In addition to financial and legal support, Barton has welcomed SFF interns to work with our team and get hands-on office and law firm experience to help them achieve career success. In a pro bono capacity, Barton has advised and represented individuals in matrimonial actions.
The statistics are staggering – 795 million people – or one in nine people in the world – do not have enough to eat.
Annually, Barton joins the 175 firms of Primerus in a collective food drive to combat local and global hunger with “Primerus Fights World Hunger.” Locally, we collect non-perishable foods and donate to City Harvest. Globally, Barton participates in “Billable Hours for Hunger.” The contribution, equivalent to the billable hours of our participants, is given to the UN’s World Food Programme.
Barton is proud to support Best Buddies whose world-wide mission is creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
