Of Counsel Brigette Renaud Serves as Attorney Faculty Member Educating HR Professionals on HIPAA Best Practices

On May 20th, Barton Of Counsel Brigette Renaud was part of the attorney faculty for a virtual “Human Resource Law Boot Camp” for New Hampshire employers, held by the National Business Institute.

Brigette’s course was titled, “HIPAA Best Practices for HR: Ensuring Confidentiality of Medical Information.” The course examined:

• When the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) applies to employers
• Best practices for employers when requesting Protected Health Information (PHI), whether for Family and Medical Leave or other purposes
• Best practices for safeguarding PHI
• Strategies for employers on how to implement PHI policies
