On June 26th, Partner Ken Rashbaum spoke for an Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) webinar titled “The Global Privacy Playlist: Key Legal Updates and Best Practices.”

The program delved into the latest developments in international data privacy laws and provided a comparative analysis of new and amended regulations across major jurisdictions. The program covered a variety of data privacy topics, including:

  • U.S. State and Federal updates to data privacy regulations, including those governing the use of artificial intelligence
  • An upcoming Department of Justice regulation that will restrict bulk data transfers to “countries of concern,” including China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Venezuela
  • The EU AI Act and GDPR Article 22, both of which set certain AI risk mitigation and compliance standards
  • International data privacy updates from China and Mexico

The panel provided insights into the practical implications of these legal updates and explored effective compliance strategies tailored for in-house counsel. This included best practices for managing cross-border data transfers, ensuring data security, and maintaining transparency with stakeholders.
