Barton LLP was pleased to host student members of the Pre-Law Society from the Honors College at Long Island University on Monday, December 1st, for a breakfast and discussion centered on the legal profession. Managing Partner Roger Barton led a lively conversation, joined by firm attorneys A.J. Monaco, Charlene Warner, Eric Albrecht, Barak Bacharach, George Pikus, and Tom White, who shared their paths to the law, insights from their careers, and guidance intended to help the students better understand the opportunities within the profession.
The students ‘ backgrounds were truly inspiring. As expected of the Honors College, selection is highly competitive, as was explained by its Dean, Dr. Gregory Barton, who accompanied the students along with Mackenzie Otterson, the Honors College Coordinator and Success Coach. All attendees are merit-scholarship recipients, many are the first in their families to attend college, and several were born outside the United States.
It was a mutually enriching event in which participants—students and attorneys alike—were engaged and inspired by each other’s unique experiences and perspectives.
