Senior Associate Charlene Valdez Warner recently spoke on a panel and participated as a mock arbitrator for the ‘Cross Examination Masterclass’ hosted by Young ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration) held at Skadden Arps on November 16th.
The session began with a panel discussion on best practices in cross examination. The group then broke into 10 concurrent mock hearings where attendees had the chance to conduct cross examinations before a live tribunal of mock arbitrators.
Young ICCA is a leading arbitration knowledge network for young practitioners and students, functioning under the auspices of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). Young ICCA promotes the use of arbitration by introducing new practitioners from all corners of the globe to the field of international arbitration. The organization continues to open the doors of international arbitration through initiatives such as skills training workshops, a mentorship program, and university scholarships.
In the words of Young ICCA Co-Chair Eva Chan, “One of the things that sets Young ICCA apart is its commitment to hands-on, skills based workshops. These events don’t just talk about good advocacy; they teach it, through interactive exercises that young practitioners rarely get elsewhere.”
