Partner Tara Aaron-Stelluto Tapped for Insight on Artificial Intelligence Legal Issues by ‘Backstage Magazine’ and ‘Above the Law’

Partner Tara Aaron-Stelluto has been quoted in two articles offering her insight into the legal uncertainties surrounding the advancement of artificial intelligence tools, especially in the entertainment industry.

An article in Backstage Magazine titled “What Legal Protections Do Actors Have Against AI?” wrestles with the ethical and legal issues associated with the use of AI to replicate actors’ likenesses and assesses how these tools could lead to the potential exploitation and misrepresentation of actors.

Partner Tara Aaron-Stelluto comments, “The issues that come out of that [will still be] publicity, and a moral rights question if someone’s image is being used to make them say something that they absolutely would never say…. Even if they don’t have copyright ownership over what the AI output is, whoever put that string of queries together and actually was responsible for creating that deepfake, AI or not, still has liability.”
