For lawyers who represent clients engaging in cross-border business, harmonizing laws between countries and navigating mandatory laws established by international agreements and conventions is a necessary focus. Nashville partner-in-charge Marc Dedman recently helped lead a panel, along with Karen Austin (VP – Legal and Licensing for Tractor Supply Company, #380 on the U.S. Fortune 500 list) and Eckart J. Brödermann (German lawyer, professor, and author – University of Hamburg), discussing private international law and its role in contract negotiations. The CLE explores how the UNIDROIT Principles create a foundation by which various national laws (as well as the common and civil law) can be harmonized in commercial contracts to facilitate cross-border trade.

The CLE panel will be part of the permanent recorded library of courses hosted by the Tennessee Bar Association and can be accessed here.
