In Memoriam – George Wang (1952-2019)

It is with heavy hearts that Barton mourns the passing of our friend and colleague, George Wang, on December 5th, 2019.

George attended Cornell University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering before going on to earn a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from MIT and his Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School.

George enjoyed a decorated, decades-long career as a corporate transactions attorney in New York, where he led complex mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and broad-scope business transactions throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.

For many years, George also served as an educational counselor for MIT and served on the Board of the Asian American Federation, the leading pan-Asian advocacy organization in the New York metropolitan area working to advance the civic voice of Asian Americans.

The consummate professional in so many ways, George was committed to the practice of law as a noble undertaking. A top choice when seeking counsel, his experience was very broad and his clients very dedicated to him. When asked for help, George would never demur or deflect, but was always more than willing to assist and was an excellent teacher to others.

Beyond being a superb lawyer, George was a supremely devoted family person. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 30 years, Kyung B. Yoon, and a devoted father to his two sons, Brian and Matthew.

George was many things–an engineer, a lawyer, a cook, a husband, a father, and a man of faith. And to all of us at Barton, he was an immensely kind and selfless friend whom we are forever grateful to have known and worked with.
