Generation and Energy Services
The lawyers in Barton’s energy practice have extensive experience working on the state and federal legal and regulatory issues that surround the electric power and thermal energy industries, especially those facing the owner-operator segment of the combined heat and power (CHP) industry. Current clients include one of the nation’s premier CHP plants, providing six world-class medical care facilities with approximately 1,000,000 lbs. per hour of steam/hot water capacity, 42,000 tons of chilled water capacity and over 80 MW of electric generating capacity. The firm recently advised on the successful renegotiation of six long-term utilities contracts for the client. Members of the practice have had hands-on operating experience with major generation plant operators, with trade associations such as the United States Clean Heat and Power Association and the International District Energy Association and with distributed generation project development. Prior engagements include wind and other renewable energy projects.
