Raul Castro draws on his experience as both former BigLaw attorney and in-house counsel to deliver high quality legal representation to the firm’s financial service clients.
Raul counsels broker-dealers and registered investment advisors on regulatory, compliance, and securities law matters including registration, trading, derivatives, research, margin, net capital, customer protection, supervisory and reporting requirements, clearance and settlement, SEC Regulations, and FINRA rules. He represents hedge funds on formation, operation, investment transactions, compliance and regulatory matters. Raul also serves as corporate counsel on behalf of investment funds, sovereign wealth funds, and private equity funds.
Raul is active in matters involving The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Anti-Money Laundering claims. Oftentimes this area of his practice involves providing support to arbitrators, mediators, and bankruptcy trustees, particularly in matters that involve Latin America.
Raul provides support along with Barton’s litigation team to shareholders and other stakeholders in complex financial and commercial litigation.
In addition to financial services, Raul’s practice also extends to other industries including technology, media, start-ups, sports & entertainment and professional services.
Raul sustains a significant pro-bono practice for individuals and religious organizations.
