Bill Newman provides Barton clients with extensive experience in sophisticated corporate and securities transactions. He actively represents operating companies, investment funds and individual investors across a wide variety of industries, including financial services, investment management, oil and gas, information technology, media, marketing, life sciences, software, manufacturing and distribution.
Bill's areas of expertise include U.S. securities law, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. In recent years, he also has developed expertise with respect to investments in the United States and acquisitions of U.S. businesses, including regulation by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), an area in which he has written and presented extensively.
Prior to joining Barton Bill was a partner with Sullivan & Worcester, LLP and from 1999 through 2008 was the managing partner of the New York office of McGuireWoods LLP.
