Legal Background
Roger E. Barton is the Managing Partner of BB&P. As both litigator and transactional attorney, he applies his management expertise and over 20 years of experience to leading a firm that is dedicated to providing its clients with quality and results. Prior to BB&P, Mr. Barton was with Dreyer & Traub and Sidley Austin in New York.
Mr. Barton's litigation practice focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation for Fortune 1000 clients. He views each case as an opportunity to partner with corporate counsel in early case assessments, strategy and budgeting to achieve a disposition consistent with the desired business result. Mr. Barton has tried numerous bench and jury cases to conclusion and has argued appeals before the state and federal appellate courts. He is an experienced practitioner in the various forms of ADR and is often relied upon by his clients to handle cases in jurisdictions across the country. He is frequently asked to lecture to national audiences on the topic of litigation management and technology.
Mr. Barton's corporate transactions practice specializes in transactions on behalf of domestic and foreign financial institutions, emerging growth companies, private equity funds, venture capital firms and privately held corporations. He has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, corporate finance, restructurings, joint ventures and international alliances. He is special counsel to the New York City Commission for International Business where he acts at the request of Mayor Bloomberg to provide legal counsel to foreign companies seeking to establish a US presence in New York.
